Ranked UK Top 10 Web Design Agency on DesignRush & Clutch

Overview

The most instructive way to understand what makes a recruitment website work commercially is to examine real examples: the specific challenges each agency faced, the design decisions made in response, and what those decisions produced. Portfolio screenshots show you what a site looks like. Understanding the reasoning tells you what to think about for your own project.

This guide draws on two recruitment website builds from Rudo's portfolio — a flexible working specialist and a field sales staffing agency — that illustrate different aspects of the dual-audience challenge at the heart of recruitment web design.

1. What makes a high-performing recruitment website

Before examining specific examples, the criteria that matter in recruitment website design are worth being explicit about — because the qualities that make a recruitment site commercially strong are often different from the qualities that win design awards.

  • Clarity of specialist positioning. A high-performing recruitment website makes the agency's specific expertise immediately clear — what sectors, what levels, what geography. Generic positioning is indistinguishable from competitors and converts nobody.
  • Effective dual-audience architecture. Both client and candidate audiences feel the site was built for them. Navigation, language, and content are structured so that neither audience has to work to find what they need.
  • Specific, evidenced credibility signals. Named testimonials with real outcomes, specific placement track records, consultant profiles with verifiable backgrounds. Claims without evidence convert at a fraction of the rate of the same claims with specific evidence.
  • Frictionless conversion mechanisms. Client enquiry forms that qualify without over-interrogating. Application and registration journeys that collect what is needed without creating unnecessary barriers. CRM integration that ensures every enquiry is tracked and followed up.
  • Platform independence for the team. The marketing or operations team can update content, publish new roles, and manage the site without raising developer tickets. A recruitment website that creates dependency on a developer for routine content changes is a liability in a fast-moving sector.

2. Ten2Two: flexible and part-time recruitment specialist

The client and the challenge

Ten2Two is a UK-based recruitment agency with a specific and genuinely differentiated proposition: they specialise in matching experienced, part-time, flexible, and hybrid professionals with progressive businesses. In a recruitment market dominated by agencies placing full-time permanent employees, Ten2Two's specialist focus gives them a genuine right to win for employers who want to access the experienced professional talent pool that flexible working opens up.

Their challenge was a comprehensive rebrand that created both an opportunity and a necessity: the digital presence needed to be rebuilt to reflect the refreshed brand identity and to communicate the specialist flexible working proposition far more effectively than the previous site had managed.

The design and build decisions

The information architecture for the Ten2Two rebuild was structured around the dual-audience challenge with particular care. The flexible working proposition serves clients and candidates in genuinely different ways — for clients, it is access to an experienced talent pool that full-time recruitment does not reach; for candidates, it is an agency that treats flexible working as a career strength rather than a limitation. Both messages needed to land clearly from the first page.

HubSpot CMS was chosen for its ability to connect every website interaction — content downloads, form submissions, page visits — directly to Ten2Two's business development pipeline. A recruiter following up with an employer who has just downloaded a flexible working salary guide has a significantly better opening to a conversation than one calling cold.

The design reflected the rebrand — contemporary, clean, and professional — while maintaining the warmth appropriate to an agency whose proposition is built around human-centred work arrangements. Real photography of real professionals, rather than generic office stock imagery, reinforced the authenticity of the positioning.

The outcome

The result, in the words of Deborah O'Sullivan, Director of Ten2Two: 'A shiny new HubSpot CMS website that looks clean, professional, and, more importantly, is beginning to drive enquiries.'

Key lesson

When a recruitment agency has a genuinely differentiated specialist proposition, the website's primary job is to make that differentiation immediately obvious and to make it feel like an advantage rather than a limitation. A specialist site that communicates confidence in its niche consistently outperforms a generalist site that tries to appeal to everyone.

3. Service Innovation Group: Europe's leading field sales agency

The client and the challenge

Service Innovation Group (SIG) is a specialist field sales agency — Europe's leading provider of outsourced field sales solutions. They help brands, retailers, and businesses enter new markets and maximise revenue potential through a network of skilled professionals with deep market knowledge and cultural expertise across multiple geographies.

SIG's challenge following a rebrand was structural: their existing website lacked a cohesive architecture for communicating a diverse range of specialist field sales services to distinct client audiences across different industries and geographies. The rebrand had clarified the brand identity; the website needed to communicate the restructured service offering clearly to the range of clients SIG serves.

The design and build decisions

The project began with a strategic sitemap — the most important deliverable for a site with complex service architecture. The sitemap established how services would be grouped, how different client audiences would navigate the site, and how the cultural and geographic depth of SIG's capability would be communicated without creating a navigation structure too complex for a first-time visitor to follow.

Webflow was chosen for its design flexibility and the velocity it gives the SIG marketing team to update content and publish new market content without developer involvement. The design delivered a clean, authoritative interface that communicated SIG's market-leading position while making the breadth of service offerings clearly navigable for distinct client types.

Updated copy was produced for all major pages to reflect the rebrand and restructured service offering, with particular attention to the language used for different client segments. Wireframing preceded visual design, ensuring that the information architecture was validated before visual decisions were made.

The outcome

The collaboration delivered a website that effectively communicated SIG's expertise across diverse field sales solutions and geographic markets. The improved navigation and clear service presentation streamlined the user journey for different client types. The clean UI design enhanced engagement, and the Webflow CMS empowered the SIG team with seamless content management capability.

Key lesson

For specialist staffing or workforce solutions agencies with complex service architectures — multiple service lines, multiple geographies, multiple client types — the sitemap and information architecture work is more commercially valuable than the visual design. Getting the structure right before any design begins prevents the most expensive mistakes in complex recruitment website projects.

4. What both sites have in common

  • Strategy preceded design. Both projects began with a strategic discovery phase — sitemap, audience analysis, and information architecture decisions — before any visual design work started. This ensured that design decisions were made against a clear brief rather than used to generate the brief.
  • Specialist positioning was the primary communication priority. Ten2Two's flexible working specialism and SIG's field sales authority were both surfaced as primary commercial differentiators rather than background context. In a crowded recruitment market, being specific about what you do and who you do it for is the highest-value communication decision available.
  • Platform choice was driven by the team's commercial model. HubSpot for Ten2Two because the CRM integration between website activity and business development pipeline was commercially important. Webflow for SIG because design velocity and content team independence were the priority. Neither was a default choice.
  • The CMS gave the team genuine independence. Both sites were delivered with training and a CMS setup that allows the marketing or operations team to update content without raising developer tickets. In recruitment, speed of response matters commercially — a website that creates developer dependency for content changes is a liability.
